Montesquieu
What is the connection between a famous 18th
century French philosopher and a contemporary range of Bordeaux
wines? Answer: Charles-Louis de Secondat,
Baron de Montesquieu
Montesquieu was, in fact, a vine grower before he became a
man of literature. The first of these two passions always provided
him with most of his income… Born in 1689, he was a true ‘Bordelais’,
who spent most of his life in the heart of the Graves region
where his family owned sizeable vineyards. |
 |
Today his decendants continue this part of his work
through the wine company called ‘Vins et Domaines Montesquieu’,
thus keeping up a long-standing family tradition.
The fine negociant wines produced by Vins et Domaines Montesquieu
aim to be complementary. Unlike the chateau wines, they give priority
to a continuity of style by subtle blending. A full range, high quality
and reasonable prices fro wines which are approachable and pleasant
even in youth. |
