Colchagua Valley
The great "El Tatio" takes its name from
the most famous geysers in the Altiplano Massif, symbolising
the explosion of fruit and sensations provoked by this
wine.
"
El Tatio" is produced by the strictest selection
of Altiplano vines from the Colchagua and Apalta "terroirs",
celebrated for their exceptional red wines.
With yields of less than 40 hl per hectare, this cru
produces around 20,000 bottles, each year, of dense,
complex and highly aromatic wine, a wine of great finesse
blended from Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Merlot (15%),
Carménère (10%) and Petit Verdot (5%).
Average age of the vines: 30 years
Grape harvesting: picked by hand, in small baskets,
at full ripeness in the fresh early-morning temperature
Vinification: pre-fermentative cold maceration, fermentation
and maceration for around 26 days, casked prior to
malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, matured on
the lees without racking, 18 to 20 months in barrels,
with 75 to 100% in new barrels.
Tasting notes: intense and brilliant ruby colour;
complex on the nose, red and black fruit, slightly
exotic, delicately woody; elegant, powerful and well-balanced
in the mouth, with very mellow tannins, well-rounded
and refreshing, with excellent length.
